      • Fuck the 4L6X transmissions, been there, done that. I ditched the 4L60E and put a TH400 in my Impala. The stupid things break all the flippin' time and a GOOD rebuild costs $2K+.

If I had a turbo car I would put some 2.73's in there and go with a non overdrive tranny. My TH400 never missed a beat, no matter how hard I was on it. I put a 2.75 first gear in it (stock is 2.48) and it still got out of the hole great (1.51 60' in a 4,300 lb car).

        Good luck!

If you keep frying the 60s id step up to a 4L80, you can score them pretty cheap from junkyards, even cheaper as rebuildable cores....

          • room is the main reason... and so far I have only broken one 60... it broke with the rear broke.. i just haven't put a correctly built one back in yet...

HOPEFULLY I will have a professionally built tranny this week to put back in before Good Guys this weekend.

These are your best choices. Its costs too much keep throwing money at a 4L60e

              • I'd reccomend having Sean out at TrueStreet in McKinney rebuild it for you. He does everything in house and does excellent work.

                  • the car is still up and running and doing good.

Dad drove it this weekend and he liked it a lot!

I had the AC lines made today and just finished putting all the AC stuff on the car.
Tomorrow we are going to put the new 3rd member in John's car and then Wednesday we are going to charge the AC in the GTO

Then Thursday we are off to Austin for the Lone Star Round up

Dad and I took a little road trip this weekend and put about 450 miles on it and everything was great and got good gas mileage too

Going down 175 is my favorite stretch of highway.
