I wanted to learn body and paint 20 years ago. My summer after my 10th grade year I got in the phone book and starting calling around. I called a bunch of places and landed an interview with a place called Dean's Restoration out past Rockwall. They hired me but it was just as a grunt. Sweep the floors ,mow the grounds run for parts ect. One day about a month in the painters helper called in sick. They called me in off yard duty and gave me a quick lesson on wet sanding and turned me loose. They were impressed with how fast I picked it up and I became the painters helper the next day.

I ended up working there summers, and 1/2 day after school for 2 years. I graduated and worked full time for about 6 months. I learned a ton of stuff I still use to this day but after about 6 months full time I decided it was just not my calling. Its some of the hardest work I have ever done but it was also very rewarding to see the results.

I would just call that shop and see if they need any help. You never know the worst they can say is no. Even if they don't need someone right now they might be 6 months from now. They don't know to call you if they don't know you are interested.

They were in process of switching over when I was still there. I even did a lot of digging for the new sign.

I need to go see Luther. I heard he and David had a falling out and he sold the place. I used to sit for hours after work off the clock watching Luther spread lead and do metal work.
