I've built a CNC machine before.. it's a pain in the ass, I feel for you man, lol. Looks like it's going to be fun.

Ya know, I don't know if I'd call it a pain in the ass, or a big challenge. Regardless, this work is fun/challenging all at the same time and learning the electronics aspect of it is pretty cool too. I actually have plans for 4 CNC machines in all, 2 mills and 2 lathes.

There's not a whole lot to show right now - but maybe next week I'll start building the electronics box. I'm still waiting on some key pieces to arrive. I also have to machine some heat sinks for the servo drives which might be a minor pain in the ass.

I designed and had made the frame of my cnc router and bought the rest of the parts from various suppliers. Turns out I can sell them for 2k more than it cost me to build one. I am on my 4th one now. If you look in the right places you can find SUPER accurate name brand linear components for WAY cheaper than retail prices.

Post up some of those sources for the ball screws / nuts etc. That's the next part i have to buy, along with the VFD and motor...

Tell me that again when you have it dialed in.

No, not really. Just been REAL busy trying to get some stuff done around here. All of the electronics part is done, or tested at least - it just needs to be mounted in the enclosure. The machine itself needs the ball screws, nuts and mounts to be complete.

I suspect it's gonna get worked on around winter time.

Oh, I'm picking up another lathe to convert as well.
