  • Flywheel question

Ok how do you know what flywheel u need. I have a 93 302 converted to carb. I think the flywheel that came with the t5 I bought isn't the right oz. I have a new harmonic balancer. So next tackle is flywheel just need to know how many teeth and oz.

    T5 flywheels are 157 tooth and 93 5.0 flywheels are 50oz.

Might want to find out what flywheel you have first. If it was for an earlier 302 or "custom" balanced for someones stroked engine it may not be a 50oz other wise it should be a 50oz.

Small block reciprocating assemblies have external balance. The crankshaft itself does not carry enough counterweights to achieve zero balance. Extra counter-weighting is cast into the flywheel and harmonic balancer bring the entire assembly into neutral balance. Early engines use 28.2 oz.-in. external balance, while 1982 and later engines use 50 oz.-in. at the flywheel and 34 oz.-in. at the damper.

Ok I still wonder of the flywheel is bent and has been bent since I don't know anything about it. I just put it and the clutch in when I got it. The tranny I bought came with this flywheel and clutch so who knows what if it was bent or something is y he sold it all
