Because it has baffling built inside to prevent pressure drop and slosh when running dual pumps but in your case a single gt,focus,aviator pump will do just fine and that seems like a lot of work to put a eaton on to swap heads you'll almost need to pull the motor then once your done you'll have 400 whp and you'll be at the limit you should just build it , are slap a vortech on in a few hours and be done or at least at the sb limits00 TT gt

That's what I've been trying to tell you...there's a reason so many people go with Vortechs on those cars - it's easy. If you are dead set on a positive displacement blower you can pick up a KB 1.5L kit built for the 96-98s, just know it likely won't make the 400rw you want (325 - 350 is pretty common).
