Thats the thing , I have lots of notch clearence up and down . Its the side of the valve I need to clearence . Also the reason for having the heads milled is for compression and the thicker gasket negates that .

sounds like the milling changed how the valve approches the piston, or the valve is a little bigger than the relief was designed for. i would at least open it up to get .1 clearance all the way around. The balance shouldn't be affected by that little material being removed, just be sure and clean extremely well.

Thats kinda what I tought about the milling but the funny thing is it fits perfectly around both the intake and exahust . When it sheared the clay its uniform around the edges of both valve . Same thickness all the way around . I think the dremmel and I have some work to do . I will just mask and tape off the whole thing except the notches .

What size are the valves? The pistons might be cut for a 1.94 valve and you have 2.02's or bigger. My last chevy I built was limited to a 2.055 valve because of the pistons and cam I was running unless I wanted to cut the pistons.
