I remember when the '87s first came out I had a Buick GN w/ tranny, exhaust, more boost, and a little 75 shot, car might of ran an easy 12.50 which was pretty fast in '87. I raced a blue coupe over off of Forrest lane and it stayed on my back bumper most of the race. Little skinny guy drove it. Turns out it was Richard McClure and the little shit already had some ported 289 hipo heads and ported stock intake on the damn thing. I remember thinking that those freaking mustangs were fast.

Do yourself a favor. IF you do install a spacer, get off the wallet and buy an intake stud kit from Trick Flow. It makes life LOADS easier, especially if the upper is going to be on/off a few times. That, and the 12 point nuts look better.

The stock intake tract is already about 37 and a half feet long; an increase of a inch isn't going to change anything.

i have a one inch spacer on my cobra and it actually does keep the upper intake significantly cooler in the cooler months. probaby not worth anything as for power, but any kind of heat reduction is good enough for me. but from may to sept it really doesn't matter what you do.

and yeah, i can now have the taller valve covers also.
