  • Floor jack suggestions needed

I'm in the market for a floor jack, but am having a little trouble finding the right one. I want to spend less than $200, but am willing to spend more if needed to get a good quality jack that's going to last. I need a 1 1/2 to 2 ton. I was going to get a Craftsman, but a lot of the reviews I've found online have been bad. What should I get? Craftsman? MAC? Snap-on?

    Thanks.

How low is your car? Just picked up this one for the shop. I really like how it can pick up any car no matter how low it is.

It for a 1970 Nova SS so height isn't really a concern.

I got one of those Harbor Freight 4000 lb aluminum jacks for Christmas... have not used it on my car yet, but it lifted up one end of my fork lift with out too much trouble. Think it was 149.95, it'za nice lookin' piece too.

Don't get a craftsman jack. Mine recently broke and it was a peice of shit since it was brand new. I got one of the larger floor jacks from Northern Tool and it's been great so far.

While very nice, it's just a tad out of my price range.

I was looking at this one too.

Both of these look like a great bang for the buck.

I bought a 3 1/2 ton from Northern tool on sale for about $150 not too long ago. Smooth release. use it on my F250 and Excursion without issue.

I got an all steel floorjack from Harbor Freight after my 5 year old aluminum Craftsman took a dump. It has even more clearance than the Craftsman. It's a little heavier but has worked great. The brand is Central Hydraulics and it was a only $69 and had good reviews Here it is:

You can also find Harbor Freight coupons in the back ad pages of Car & Driver magazine.

I also have a steel harbor freight jack thats lasted a few years of abuse. When it goes I'm getting an aluminum one.
