Thoughts on 331 Stroker

Like I said, I'm just trying to learn about a 331 from those who have one. I'm not interested in a 347 or 351. I may stay with the 302(306) or move to a 331. It is my daily driver so gas mileage is a consideration since it is almost $4.00 a gallon. I would like more HP and torque so that is why I'm considering a 331. I currently have a H/C/I car with stock bottom end with around 160k.
I also have a stock 93 Cobra I can drive sometimes too.

I drive my Cobra 500+ miles every single week. It has a 331 stroker. I tune mine with a QH and Binary Editor. I have the computer bias lean at cruise and I turned the amplitude way down so it doesn't try and revert back to stoich so fast. I can get 27mpg on the hwy. In town it's a different story because I have lower gears, and a pretty stout camshaft. If you do a lot of hwy driving your gas mileage won't be to much different than a 302.

331" all day long. The oil ring will still intersect with the pin but I have never had one issue. I went with the 331 over the 347 for the better rod ratio and my cylinder walls thank me for it. I do turn mine to 7800 on occasion and cylinder wear has never been an issue. Granted, mine is a track motor now but it did spend 3 yrs on the street as a cruzer befor being turned to a track car once we moved to TX.

331 good gain over 302 /306 depending on the heads cam and other bolt ons, you will feel a ton of difference. Torque and hp will jump. greenbullit is local and has some good reviews, so not a bad choice. As fx331 said your cylinder walls will thank you.

depending on name and setup cast setup will run you 700 to 1000 and forged is between 1300 and 2000. Although some will say you dont need to balance it is always recomnded that you have them balanced with your fly wheel and balancer. that will normally run you a couple hundred. building these things add up fast. I would also recommend getting your block checked and at least cleaned up. Sometimes one short step can cost you everything you have in it. I believe both kits are around the same price as far as 331 or 347 if not the same close enough not to worry about the differnce. From what I'm understanding with what your saying the 800 kit would work fine for you. thats with flat top pistons with a 58 cc head your static compression would be around 10.5 to 1. Not to bad for a streetable car.
