You shouldnt have a issue. I had 10.5 Cobra rims on my 04 Cobra with 275 Mickey Thompsons. Yeah they where stretched by didnt look bad or perform bad. I think you can get away with 305's if the rims are 10.591 TURBO NOTCH TURBO + STUFF

Juco said that 255/40's would be the best fit, but nitto only offers a 255/35.Doug

Jeremy, the way you look at a tire to determine size is this.
The first number, in your case, currently 315, is the width in millimeters. The 305 being only 10 millimeters narrower, come out to be a little more than 3/8" difference. Not enough to even be able to tell a difference when looking at it.
The second number, 30, is the sidewall height. Which, in your case, the height of the sidewall would be 30% of the width of the tire (the 315). So, if that made any sense, you would be looking at the sidewall being 30% of 315mm.
Then, obviously, the last number is just the wheel diameter.
So, the smaller the second number, or the 30 in the 315/30-18, the lower profile tire it will be.
I'm not sure if you already knew all of that or not, but hopefully that helped.
So I guess to sum all of that shit up that I just typed, yes, you should be fine going from a 315/30 to a 305/35. The 305/35 will be about an inch taller than the 315/30 that you have now. This will take a bit out of the gear, but probably not enough to notice. It will only be about 3/8" narrower, so I wouldn't be worried about the width at all.
