  • Air pressure in fuel tank?

I used about 25 dollars of gas in about 50 miles. WTF?

I don't see any leaks, no fuel smell or anything.

I go to take the fuel cap off and it damn near flew off from all the air pressure inside the tank.

Where do I start to look?

This is after I had the hose from the pump to filter lay on the exhaust pipe and melt a hole in the hose, I replaced that and now this.

My mustang went from 21mpg to 7mpg. Fml

Pull the rubber ring off the gas cap till you figure it out.
It sounds like the vent on the tank is stpped up.

Weird...my tank builds up SOME pressure. I pull the cap and it lets a little "whoosh" out and then i'm good to go..nothing explosive like you described.

                          I get about 12 - 13 mpg...or I did at least 2 years ago when I checked...it get 1000 miles a year so I don't really care much about economy.

Some pressure is normal. 1-2psi for evaporate system effectiveness.

But mine sounds like someone slashed my damn tire when I open the cap, I'm about to drop the tank and start there..

Not a damn thing, I wanted to take the evaporate system off at one time but decided against it.

                              Pos ford! Lol
