  • Teach me the ways of the SN95 (PI swap)

I don't know jack about these cars like I do a fox body. I know the chassis is pretty much identical, but I want to make sure I have the best chance of avoiding a ripoff as possible.

I'm thinking about trading my 92 GT for a 98 GT with PI head swap, PI intake, "hot cams?", exhaust, and maybe gears.

I have found that the heads will have "PI" stamped underneath the part number, but have not been able to verify it yet. Is there another way to verify that the swap has been done?

What other things should I look out for in this body style?

someone correct me where im wrong but the the PI intake has the first runner to the drivers side, whereas the NON-PI have it to the Passenger Side for the front runner...

As for the chassis your right, you'll look for the same signs of abuse and neglect.
      Good luck and post pics.

pull the intake off and make sure the ports have that PI "teardrop" shape on the intake and heads

I don't believe I want to put in the effort to pull the intake. I'll just try to see the "PI" using my flex-mirror.

When I drove the car it had a nasty vibration due to a u-joint. He is fixing that now. However, the clutch pedal had a vibration in it when you lightly put your foot on it. As soon as you depress it or release it fully it goes away. I know it's not from the u-joint, as it does this sitting still. The clutch doesn't chatter, slip, or grab funky at all for that matter. I have never felt anything remotely similar in a fox. Bad thrust bearing? Are they the same as replacing one in a fox?

Is there an inspection hole in the bellhousing of the transmission?

EDIT: I just found out that this car would have a T-50D transmission. What the fuck is that?

Pics of the 92? Really I wouldn't do it if the 92 is decent.

I like my SN95, but it's a '95 5.0. As far as the chassis, brakes, etc, I prefer the SN95. I know very little about the 4.6's Just never owned one.

Even with PI heads it's not going to be that fast. If it's a true PI swap with cams then it'll be a little faster than a stock fox.

a 4.6 should have a t45 if that hasnt been mentioned yet. not all pi heads say pi on them but can be identified by the casting as well, pm me if you have questions robert

Not familiar with the T50, but the T45's have a cover for the clutch fork just like the T5 bell's have a cover. The vibration could be a couple of things, maybe worn out pilot bearing, input shaft, bearing retainer, throwout bearing, or a combination of any of those.

We could probably argue about it all day, but the likelihood of landing 300rwhp with a stock 2V and PI heads is a real long shot unless you've got a power adder. Cams or not, PI heads aren't that good, they're just better than non-PI heads. Maybe if the heads have port work and throw in a tune.

The runners on the pi intake look different than the non pi don't pay attention to just the water crossover. Also if it has the stock bottom with the pi heads it will have more compression and run pretty well

if the pi intake hasnt been modified, they only have one sensor in the t-stat crossover as opposed to non pi's 2 sensors. also, dont judge off the intake as for some odd reason people like to use pi intakes on no pi heads which is a piss poor match
