I wouldn't let Kim work on my lawn mower motor.

I've never personally had any work done by him but have seen first hand some of his work and was wondering WTF he was thinking and had a few run ins with him while at Joe Wilsons getting some chassis work done.

To me if you build race engines for a living and have to buy a complete motor from Steve Schmidt for your own personal race car just so you can qualify then something isn't right.

I've used him for cylinder head stuff and I would do it again, but that's because he'll take a good weed bribe to push my stuff to the front of the line
Shhh! Don't put that out there! I'll have to bring the real good shit next time! Lol!

I have seen some really nice work from Southwest Engines in CH. I quit using Wells when I was in college, they wouldnt give me the time of day since I didnt want to drop 10K with them. Started using SW after that, they were huge with the circle track guys who all got pissed at Dennis and went south.

That said, Dennis hired a guy from RM that is really good. He did my flywheel balance for my 69.

Wayne Calvert.... Good work, good prices and they always stand behind their work.

Over the years I have seen work from almost all engine builders around here and even some from Austin and Houston. Seen some really nice work and seen some absolutly horrible work.

As far as local guys go Bud Morgan or Rick at Metroplex machine are the only two I would trust to do anything. Of course Rher is going to do a great job but thier prices are a little out of reach for most people and thats if they would even want to mess with it.

I'm extremly picky when it comes to machine work and motor building and Bud and Rick are the only two that I would be able to drop my stuff off at and not worry about it not being right when I go to pick it up.

Hans Feustel is also another good choice.

I've always had good luck with the mad German. He's usually a little over budget and it always takes a little longer than expected but it's built right. Wolfe's car seems to do pretty good with his engines!
