  • Help with my Build

Alright time to build my 85 GT up a little.

I'm going to do H/C/I and need suggestions on a Cam

Currently on the car is a Holley 650 dp, Weiand stealth, Bbk Shortys, Off road H, 40 series flows dumped, Fms clutch, 8.8 with 3.73s, upper and lower control arms, 5 speed

I already have a set of trick flow 170 twisted wedge heads

    1.7 roller rockers, Upgraded springs

Now I'm trying to find the best Shelf cam to put in

This is my daily driver and I would be revving up to 6k for now

    What are my options?

(Edit Going with a B 303 for now)

Way too aggressive with 1.7 RR's. I'd go with 5/8's race cam.

Comp 282 with some of the lobe ground off. Its an awesome camshaft for 302's from what I've been told!!!

the b cam is still being consedered but, if there is something out there that will work better/higher numbers might as well do it the first time

I'v been looking at this one

With 1.7,s thats gonna be at .550 lift . We will have to clay it for sure and make sure the springs don't bind . Btw , you know as well as I do that the 351 is down the road and I would buy the cheap one now and get a custom when we swap the motor (just my opinion) . Spend the extra 200 on a used nitrous kit . That comp is pretty close to an F cam . Now that I look at it again thats a pretty mild little cam . The range is 1500-5600 and its allot shorter then either the f or b .

I actually had that Nitrous HP cam in a SBC and it was quite lazy on motor.

I would use the B cam with the 1.7's. It will work really well for you. It will give you lift similiar to an f cam. The timing events will be a little different but it should feel really nice with those heads and intake. It will also give you the sound you are looking for.
