    I have a 1997 dodge dakota 250xxx miles v6 automatic

Truck will turn on just fine then out of nowhere will die. Some times truck will run all day no issues and some times will turn on 5minutes then die, after it dies it takes a while for it to turn back on.

So far i have only changed coil thinking that was it but nothing, battery is holding charche and cranks right over after it dies but will not start back up. Truck does not have check engine light on.

Any ideas as what to check next?

Well the tank is full and its doing it so?

I keep thinking the crank sensor but i would think it would give me a check engine light

Check whem it dies if it is missing fuel or spark.

X2 on check fuel and spark when it acts. It could be a crank sensor and not set a light. check codes any wa[. It may not trip the light but may have a stored fault.

Finally after a couple days of running perfect, passing inspection it did it again!

I was driving truck dies, i smashed the gas peddle and after a few backfires it turned on and kept on running,

Secon i also figured out that when it dies if i purge the fuel from the lines it will turn on after.

Thanks any help is greatly aooreciated since this i my sidework truck and cant so much with out it.

the pressure regulator/filter is mounted on top of the pump, may be a intermitent supply issue due to that

                    Its a spark issue,

Saturday i turned it on, stayed on for a couple minutes died, had my wife crank it, turned on but died, while doing this i have a screw driver in #1 plug wire against alternator and can see spark, after it died and she turned it over and nothing, no spark. We tried it a few times and wouldnt crank and i would see no spark.

                    What can it be?

Truck does not have a ignition module

                            It has
                            Coil (new)
                            Ignition pick up
                            Ignition relay
