  • wiring gurus here.

I'm deleting a lot of things in my 90 GT. I'm going to try and take out as many wires as I can. My question is what is the best/most practical way of getting rid of all of the useless wires without having shorting issues. Thanks in advance.

Clint you also have an 80 model vs his 90 model. To be completely honest and like stated already its gonna be a pain in the ass especially if your sticking with the fuelie setup

If your going or are already carbed then I would suggest buying a universal harness from painless that has all your bare essentials. Then remove your old harness leaving as much in tact as possible and sell it.

It will be no more difficult or time consuming installing a painless harness vs tracing cutting splicing crimping taping your old one and you will turn out with a much more simplified look

best, easiest and most practical way is to rip it all out and start fresh with a universal harness.

I am advocate of buying factory harnesses on Ebay or parts yards. Use them to pull apart for spare parts and to build your new one out of. You may need some new pins or connectors along the way; hit up rjminjection.com for them.

Thanks guys. I'm going to have to check to see how much a new harness would be, but I know the one I have is free, lol. So a little time doesn't bother me too much. What is the best way to eliminate wires from the harness?? Thanks guys.

are you going carbed or staying fuelie????? thats going to be the biggest factor right now. if your staying fuelie then your wasting your time. Id just do a wire tuck if thats the case. a universal harness like this one http://www.race-mart.com/Painless_Wiring-PNL-50002.html

remove loom, extract wire and remove from ECU plug. It really is not more difficult than that.

All the wires are individually colored EXCEPT the 12v and .5v reference that feed injectors, IAC, TPS, ECT, IAT

For components you are removing that have use a community 12 or .5v chase it to the junction or splice and cut and cover there. Same with shared grounds.

Do you know what you are removing and what you are keeping. That would help your response.

I'm staying EFI. I'm keeping everything involved with EFI obviously. Also keeping all of the lights, gauge cluster, alternator, wiper motor, power windows and power mirrors. I believe that is it.

man....your not gonna be getting rid of very many wires then lol......If i were you i would just buy a shit load of different colored wire and either some weatherpack connectors or just solder and heat shrink to extend them and run them through the cowl/fenders and hide them......just my .02 with everything your going to have to keep your really not going to accomplish much.
