  • Can anyone identify which year cowl panel I need?

I am ditching the 5.5" extended cowl for a 2 inch cowl so I need to buy a cowl panel. Since I do not know a lot about the history of this car, I don't want to buy a cowl panel without knowing if I need the 79-82 or 83-93 panel. The car is a 79 but has 88+ front/rear/interior.

Here is a picture of the cowl:

On a side note, from what I can tell from pictures of other Mustangs, did someone fill in the driver side wind shield wiper hole?

79-82, with a little modding, you can use 83 up

Any reason to use the newer unit. Looks like LMR sells the 79-82 for $39. Will the 79-82 fit decent with a 88+ cowl hood?

i havent compared the later hood to the early cowl to see how they line up (width wise)

My 1982 has a hole for the windshield wiper on the drivers side, I would say someone filled yours in. Here's a pic of my cowl if it will help.

Since you don't have a wiper on the drivers side, the Harwood smooth cowl might be good for your car. I almost bought a a used one from the old site for my car. Here's a link to it:

Ya, I noticed that. Someone did a good job with it too because you cannot tell where the wiper should even come through. Sucks for me because I wanted to run wipers.
