  • Pinion stuck in 8.8 housing

I have an 03 8.8 torn down and I cant get the pinion out . The nut is off and the carrier is out and I can just pull the pinion out most of the time but this one is stuck like chuck . Anybody ever have one stuck ? I can even hit the end with a bfh and nothing .

I have had that happen before. I put the nut on it and slammed a 10lb hammer against it. After 4-5 hits it cam flying out. I messed the nut up and little bit of the threads on the pinion. I just clean the pinion threads with a file and scrapped the nut.

At least we are changing the pinion so if we kill the threads it doesn't matter . This thing is stuburn .

Use a two jar puller to remove the yoke. Pop the seal out and spray the pinion bearing with spray lube. Let it sit for a while. If you have access to a butane torch, put some heat on it and smack the fuck out it with a hammer. Some of the Sn95 differentials can be a real bitch to get the pinion out of.

An acetylene torch or other significant heating method should do the trick.
