  • tremec 3550 transmission

so ive been debating on swapping the t5 in my car with a tremec3550. the tremec is pro shifted with a spec force dual stage 3(?) clutch.
is it worth my time or does some one have a better idea. The price is 800 for aluminum drive shaft, and the tremec

it sounds like a great deal but the clutch will bog you down if your not making 500+hp. so you shoud just buy the trans and get a new clutch.

Have you even driven a car with a pro shifted transmission in it? If its a weekend warrior type deal, you might like it. If its a cruiser or daily type driver, pass on it.

Basically the unit has the syncronizer rings removed and the small engaugement teeth cut off the gears. A ring is then welded onto each gear with fewer but larger engaugement teeth. This allows you to up shift like a pro but making it very difficult to down shift. As a drag racing application, its the way to go. As a street driven vehicle seeing a lot of down shifting, I would definately find someone with a pro shifted unit to drive before committing to installing one in your personal vehicle.
