  • Ford Racing Hood Pins???

(edit) short story long below: I need a machine shop in the DFW that can fabricate a modified version of a hood pin I already have.

So I have searched all over Google for people who are having the same issue I am and have yet to see any info on how to resolve....

I purchased the Ford Racing Hood Latch kit from Summit for my 99-04 mustang. The pins are listed as being 4 inches long which would be fine. However when I try to use the pins they seemed too short so I measured and it turns out they are only 3.75 inches long. I searched for a 5in pin kit but I can’t find anything that is the same size i.e. 5inches long with 1/2 dia stainless.

I have determined I need to see if a machine shop can make me a duplicate pin but just a little longer than the ones that came with the kit. Does anyone know of a shop that can do this at a reasonable price?

The Ford Racing ones worked for me, but Moroso does make longer ones (they say 5"). You might check UPR also (I'm using their billet hood plates). I think it would be pretty expensive to have somone make a set (even the materials aren't cheap).

Here's a link to a set on Ebay:
