302 cam in 351w

does anyone have any experience good or bad with running a non h.o. 302 cam in a 351w? my buddy ran this cam in his race car 89 5.0 and it did awesome but in my 351 I cant get it to run correctly. any help on this matter will be appreciated thanks

The only thing difference there is the firing order. If that is correct, check all your supporting parts.

302HO & 351 firing order 1 3 7 2 6 5 4 8
standard firing order 1 5 4 2 6 3 7 8

they'll usually start either way usually, but the wrong order will have 4 cylinder not hitting correct.

Are you sure that your friend didn't run a 5.0 HO cam? As mentioned above, it has the same firing order.

I have a stock cam from an 87 Mustang in my 93' Lightning. I installed it with 2* of advance to keep the low end torque & it gives me a tad bit more on the top end.

for the hell of it I tried it in windsor firing order and its alive. now I need to call my buddy and find out why he told me 302 firing order not h.o.
