Red paint is very expensive. A complete on a Mustang can be done with 2 quarts of base and that will cost a couple hundred bucks, then add sealer, clear, sand paper, masking paper, tape, compound, primer, etc... see where I am going. You could do it in single stage or maby enamel. Decent base clear you will have at least 750.00 in materials. I don't know anybody that can do a quality job for 250.00 labor.

Well I have a buddy who will do it, I don't know if he'll do it that cheap, probably cheaper than anyone else. He painted my GT about 11 years ago and I am about to have him paint it again this summer. The only reason it needs repainted is because I have fucked it up over the years, otherwise it would still be good.

I wouldn't trust anyone who quoted me under $3,000. If it's a clean little car don't fuck it up with a shittie ass paint job. Four eyed, t-tops are becoming harder to come by.

So you are saying that you can't get a quality paint job (on a sand and shoot) for under 3k ? Not true at all.

The ones that I've seen are not of good quality.

To be honest with you, typically when someone say, "oh, its just a sand and shoot", its not really just that. There's usually light shallow dents, door dings, peeling paint and such that the owner never notices. Once you really get looking, its not really and sand and shoot. When I think "sand and shoot", I think disassemble the car, 320 wet/dry sand the car, tape, seal, shoot.
