Whats the best way to drill out rivets?

I don't think If ever seen a "special" bit. Just make sure its smaller than the rivet and sharp

when i get more time tonight i'll research it but i bet there is one! the drill bit method just sucks to do on allot of rivets at once

Depending on what it is on i cut them off with a cut off wheel.

If not sharp drill bit. Even with the sut off wheel you can put slots in the top that will break of nice and clean.

I learned something new. Lowes has them they are a two step drill bit thats cuts out center then head.

first one is a damn complete waste of money.....fuck spending 60 bucks when a drill bit works just fine and the second looks like a center drill. either way i did all the menu boards for long john silvers all over texas and we had to drill out the rivets and then paint and re rivet new boards up.......just get a drill bit the same size as the rivet, drill into the head and once you get through the head will start spinning and then the rivet should slide out

of course this is the type of rivet im talking about.....there are a shit tons of different types

I know they sell a rivet drill bit at broncograveyard.com. I used an angle grinder on mine, then punched them out.

Yeah, 3/16 drillbit and ~5 seconds of your time. I wouldn't spend 60 bucks on a rivet drill bit lol

i'm confused as to what the problem is with a good drill bit? I would bet safely that i've drilled out more 3/16" and 1/8" rivets than anybody here. That $60 drill bit will break just as easy as the 1000's of normal bits i've already broken haha
