  • Pulling out an AC unit from another truck?

Found a 96 F150 that's being parted out and it has a work AC system on it. What do I need to be aware of or careful about when pullling the AC system off of it?

Shouldnt be any problems. You would want to replace the receiver/drier and orifice tube anyways.

I wasn't sure if anything would be under pressure that might cause a problem if not properly removed. Mainly concerned about getting the compressor and accumulator.

You need to evac the system and reclaim the refrigerant. An accumulator is what Ford calls a receiver drier. I wouldnt reuse it.

              LOL
I'd be draining all the old oil out, changing the dryer and orfice then reservice everything per manual.

Remove the schrader valves from the low and high side with a valve core tool. Other than that it's pretty straight forward. Replace all o-rings with new ones and lube the new o-rings with fresh a/c oil. Are you going to pull the evaporator?
