  • What is a good small truck with good gas milage & pull a small lawn trailer

Well my current truck for the Business is a 1994 single cab 350 TBI Truck & with gas getting up to $3.50 or higher a gallon. This is going to cut in to my bottom line!

I want to spend MAX $2500 for a used truck with a 4Cycl motor & 5spd. But it has to have enough power to pull a lawn trailer & still get 25 city & 35 Hwy without the trailer

I was thinking the old school Nissan Mini Pick ups or Toyota or S10, My main focus is dependable & good milage

      I hate Ford trucks!

This has high miles. But I know Toyota's are solid. I wonder if he would take $1500 cash

You won't get the MPG you are looking for with most toyota trucks, including that one.

I think the nissan trucks are your best bet.

My buddy sold his Nissan Frontier a couple of years ago and the mexican guys in the area were chomping at the bit to buy it. He had like 3 or 4 offers the same day! I'm guessing they know something.

              Racist!

I know mid-90s 4-banger S-10s get that kind of mileage but not sure how reliable they are.

The mazdas from the late 90's early 00's might be worth looking into too.

What you are looking for doesn't exist. The closest thing in economy would be an Escape Hybrid, and they sure as heck aren't $2500. My last 4 cyl S-10 was only good for 24 mpg highway, without a load. It'd be scary to try and pull anything with it, I think my lawn mower has more power.

This is what I have in mind! He claims to get 27 city/Hwy mixed driving & it has a V6 & is a 5spd

Just curious are these good years & motors. He said the clutch is solid & brakes work. He isnt sure on the AC though! I think I can get him down to $1500 & put $200 or $300 in it

I know they are the same, but maybe it will just make him feel better.

Pro88LX has a Ranger Splash for sale. Just take it to Maaco and paint it white. It's a work truck, who gives a damn if it's a show quality paint or not. Rangers are good trucks, don't be shortsighted on it. It's a work truck, drive it into the ground and don't worry about it.

Well if he got really lucky there are a hand full of diesel S10s and Rangers out there. If the owner didn't realize he had a gold mine you could probably get one of those for $2500 or so. Or the little VW diesel trucks but they are turds.

The best possible fit would be a Ranger or S10 with a Cummins 4BT swap, good luck at $2500 though. It'd meet all your criteria otherwise.
