Ok it was not the coil. I put a new MSD one of today and same story. Cranked up, i rev'd it, it acted like it was misfiring, then bogged down and died.

To elliminate the cats potentially being clogged, I took out my trusty sawzall and hacked the exhaust right before the cat. I moved the cat side of the exhaust out of the way as far as it would go (about half way) and she cranked up and same story. Misfiring bogging and died.

SO not the coil, and does not look like my cats are clogged. (assuming 5.0s do not need backpressure to operate properly. It should at least run and not die.)

So the distributer is the next on the list. The sucky part is if I want to check my timing, I need to replace the H. balancer too cause my current one has no marks besides TDC.

Are summit distributers any good? They have one for like 180.00 The MSD and Accel ones are 230.00-380.00

do not replace the entire distributor just the tfi module, you are not getting spark so just replace the parts that supply it

Thanks for the suggestion, but it was not the TFI module. Got the new one in yesterday and picked up the BS thin socket you need this morning, no dice.

        Distributor is next.

Replaced the distributer with a new MSD billet. Still would not crank.

          I pulled the codes - 118, 118 (hard Faults) 6sec pause 1 6sec pause 111, 111

So hard code 118 (O,M) ECT sensor is/was high or open -

This is just the coolant sensor right? so 111 means all good.

So I've replaced plugs, wires, Tfi module, coil, dist, fuel pump/filter, cats are not clogged.

Any other suggestions? besides block or cylinder test?

          TIA

Your car has been down since march? If so throw in the towell and let a shop you trust sort it out.

kind of confused. when you say it won't crank do you mean, it won't start, or it won't even turn over?

wrong. check the grounds and if that is all good change the ECT sensor.

try holding the gas to the floor and cranking when it is hot. if it starts then change the ECT

So it just keeps turning over until it drains the battery?

Go to sbftech.com and search "pip problem." all the info you need is there. I'd also be installing a balancer with timing marks and verifying true tdc on #1.

i don't understand why this is so hard. he has hard fault for the ECT sensor.

ECT and ACT determine the amount of fuel; the colder it is the more fuel it dumps in.
so a bad ECT sensor will cause all the symptoms he is having.
