Flaky guages on an Explorer

Trying to remote troubleshoot a problem with a 2001 Exploder. When the SUV hits a bump the dash gauges (battery and temp) will either stop working or start working. Dash lights and fuel gauges are not effected. So I am thinking something under the hood. Any ideas on where to start looking?

Any update on this? Maybe the problem is a bad fuse or one of the wires is not making a good connection.
