Why does pushrod need a cam and bolt ons?
Because the stock cam in it was designed to make torque, and meet CAFE regulations. Stop being obtuse.

why dont you just put a gm v6 in it?

3.6l GM v6 puts out 304HP and 273lb-ft.... hrm not bad for a "crappy pushrod motor that needs displacement"

                    • There is no replacement for displacement. I thought earlier you said that the chassis will be addressed. That to me would mean a tubular K-Member which would allow the swap of a 351 based short block to fit under a stock fox hood. $ per hp the windsor is gonna runn circles around your DOHC 4.6. I daily drive a 95 Cobra that gets 26 mpg on the hwy and traps 86-87mph in the 1/8th. I also have a 93 Lightning that gets 19mpg on the hwy with 4.56's. So if the gas mileage can be controlled then why wouldn't you want the tq of 408+ cubic inches? Why rev an engine to 7000 rpm when you can get it done at 6200? More cubes=More torque this applies to both NA and poweradder. Lets compare apples to apples here. Is the head design of a 4V better? Thats a tough call because there are some outstanding windsor heads on the market that will outperform a B or C head. You put those heads on an engine of 400+ cubic inces and it's more power than you will be able to handle on the street. Enough to necessitate mini tubs, a 6 point cage minimum, bigger brakes both front and rear, etc........... Are you really wanting to spend all that money? Now your $5000 project just turned into a $12,000 project. For all intents and purposes the windsor engine should be able to reach a realistic power vs budget ratio. 500hp or less on the street for a daily is windsor territory, and I won't even get into the torque advantage of going that route.

Are you blind? look at chrevrolet.

Show me a 281cu v8 pushrod that makes over 300 n/a hp. Please show me.

Why are you talking about 351 and 408? That wont even fit under a stock hood.

                      But but but show me.

                        • Plus I understand that the new Coyote engine has cracked the 500rwhp mark naturally aspirated. That's impressive, but it's also got another $3500+ in mods and who knows how much $$ in tuning to reach those numbers. Who knows how streetable those cams are. Just add cubic inches and keep a liveable camshaft. You arent going to get 500 rwhp out of any modular 302 ci engine built before the Coyote. The variable cam timing, direct port injection, and tuning make it possible with the Coyote.

                          • I have 12k in just after market parts in my swap car (have an Excel spreadsheet if you'd like to see) and that doesn't include the engine/transmission/body/paint job/etc. Some of the stuff I obviously got when I bought the roller, but none-the-less it gets expensive FAST! You, like many before you, have no idea what it is actually going to cost to do this conversion.
