I've completed a couple of mod swaps into fox coupes, including the full interior, wiring harnesses, and hydroboost brakes. I love a nice H/C/I blown pushrod engine. However, technology is where its at. The modular blocks are superior to the 5 liter production pushrod blocks even in stock form. Granted money shouldn't be an issue for a build like this, but after it's done, you'll have the newer technology in an older, lighter chassis. I say go for it. But learn from a mistake I made, don't just grab a 4.6 out of an sn95 and do the swap. Get the good stuff and make it worth while. It will be worth it.
I'm going to undergo another mod swap in the near future, but first I will have to to sell the new engine/trans/vortech combo I have to fund it. The more cost effective way to go is to find a wrecked terminator so that everything is there. That's how I'm going to approach it, which is how I completed prior swaps.
I'd say 3000-3500 on powerplant. Using OEM heads and cams. Just built bottom end.
Dunno if I would go 3650 or t56.
I've done a coupe with an 01 cobra engine and a fairmont with a 3-valve, and had good results with both, but you're going to blow that budget out of the water.
After reading this thread, there's just no arguing with a broke-dick dreamer. LOL!
Your right about that...Lol....this dude wants more power yet he went airborne like the dukes of fucking hazzard a few weeks ago with an according to him "slow pushrod engine" and was crying about how much it screwed up his car LMAO...learn to drive first....my advice....get a four banger stang learn to drive it first then a v6..... then climb in the ring with the big 8 boys...gotta learn to crawl before you walk!!! Just my two cents
It's a shit motor that fits in a fox car worse than it actually performs. Great for trucks, but it's way down on the list of great swap motors for a street car.
Im not an expert, but i would go with a 351 swap before I went to a mod swap, Im thinking a 351 swap would be cheaper....oh wait I forgot "pushrod motors are slow"....lol...
