  • Gas smell

So I finally got around to starting my car, but now I’m getting a strong gas snell when the car is just sitting there, not running just parked in the garage. I don’t have any drips anywhere all my fitting are dry to the touch. My fuel pressure is steady when I turn it in , I just can’t fugure out why I have such a strong smell. Any ideas anyone?

Trace the lines going to the charcoal canister & from there to the fuel tank.

Sorry forgot to mention it’s a after market fuel system, no charcoal tank, straight from tank to y-block to fuel rails/injectors, then to fuel pressure regulator and back to tank

        How’s your tank vented?

Fuel vapors are common with braided lines. That's probably what it is.

But enough to stink up my house? If I leave the garage door open the whole house smells of gas when I come home

My entire garage would smell when I had my car assembled.

                I'm just saying it's a possibility.

This, I think there are brands of line or styles, but I've always been warned about braided smelling.

I don't remember where I read it, but I think Aeroquip braided lines are the best option to prevent fuel smell. FWIW.

Any of the good PTFE lined braided hoses will get rid of the smell

Are the Russell lines considered good? Because that is what I had on my car and it smelled very much like gas in my garage.

Russell makes both kinds of lines, have to make sure it's the PTFE lined ones for no smell. Fragola, Aeroquip, Summit Racing all make lines as well.

Well the more I look, it looks like Russell doesn't make PTFE hose, they use a synthetic rubber liner, I thought they made both types
