  • Question: 2001 Toyota tune up with 74K miles

So my mom's eyesight has gotten to a point where she's pretty much done driving. The timing ended up working out where her old daily that she's owned since new is now my daily.

2001 Toyota Highlander with 74k miles. Runs and drives great as you'd expect, but I'm sure after 15ish years there are plenty of things that could use some love. I get that hoses, belts and filters should probably be addressed, but is there anything in particular that I should look at? Aside from age, this thing is probably poised to run at least another 100K miles and I might just do that. Not having a car payment is the best.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Yup, V6. I would describe it as "adequate".

I voted her 4cyl "the car that would benefit from a turbo most"

Yeah that sounds about right. But that covers most 4cyl NA vehicles that I can think of.

Yeah? What makes you say that? The age?

                    IIRC it's 5yr/100k interval.

At least a grand if someone does it for you. Usually replace the water pump while your there.

At least this is my experience twice with my 01 taco 3.4l

Can you do it yourself? Looks like parts aren't that expensive on RockAuto. ~$100 for parts

Possibly? I've only ever worked on RWD American iron. I'm thinking FWD Japanese in going to be painful.
