  • 6.0 diesel stud torque

    replaced the head gaskets on the 6.0 ford diesel, what do you torque the new studs to and also the nut

    Studs hand tight after tapping and blowing out trash , I would follow whom ever made the studs torque specs.
    Its been a long time since I HAD to do studs on a 6 leaker .

      ARP...
      Tighten the head bolts in the following sequence.
      Tighten bolts 1 through 10 to 65 lb-ft.
      Tighten bolts 1 through 10 to 95 lb-ft.
      Tighten bolts 1 through 10 to 135 lb-ft.
      Tighten bolts 1 through 10 to 180 lb-ft.
      Tighten bolts 1 through 10 to 210 lb-ft.
      Tighten bolts 11 through 15 to 24 Nm (18 lb-ft).
      Tighten bolts 11 through 15 to 31 Nm (23 lb-ft)

      Life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave safely, in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting “Holy shit, what a ride!”

          The stock torque and studs require different torque. Those pesky torque to yield head bolts were junk anyway

            Yes the stock bolts were crap . I have done a few sets of heads and the studs are different .

            HMMM my 7.3 sees 35 psi on junk stock bolts............ But I do have H-11 studs to go on with new worked heads LOL !
