Does it just have a motor starter or just a pressure switch?
Pull the belts and see if the motor comes on, if nothing and it's only a pressure switch pull the cover and check to see if the contacts are pulling in.
Ok, just checked voltage at wall and it checks out. This model only has a press switch. I have power into the switch and upon closer inspection, it looks like the contacts are in the closed position. But it should be running at that point.
Single phase motor will have a capacitor mounted under the little round cover on it. There's a good chance if nothing's locked up and you've got voltage thru the contacts if the motor isn't fried it's that capacitor. It'll be cheap to replace, last one I replaced was ~$20.
Is it possible to upgrade the pressure switch? This is the cover on mine. It is regulated to work until it reaches 135psi. And from what I can tell it powers up at 105psi.
Square D is a pretty good brand, unless you're asking about a higher pressure switch. If so your tank has a pressure rating stamped on it somewhere and I'm sure there's some safety factor engineered into the switch pressure/tank capabilities. If it's the original switch I'd stay with that pressure switch if or when it shits the bed.
Yeah and your pump will be working that much longer to achieve the higher pressure. I tried searching for compressor failure videos but only came up with videos of pumps failing.
Well, I gave the contacts a good cleaning a few days ago and it has been working just fine since. Still haven't bought the new pressure switch but I figure I will and keep it handy. Thanks all.
