Replacement electric motor

I am needing a replacement 7.5hp electric motor for my air compressor. Mine died and I took it to the rebuild shop, and they laughably want $900 to rebuild the electric motor. They said the windings are "burnt" and would have to be replaced. And that at this point, its cheaper to just buy a new electric motor. It is a Quincy air compressor, with a Baldor motor, and a 184t frame.


I thought about something like this, but I hear the motor needs to be "compressor rated". I guess that means extended duty... or something. (I know baldor is a good brand)

Any ideas or suggestions on where to get a good 7.5hp electric motor, that is up to the task?

I'd recommend checking with Tolbert in Garland. They deal with most major brands including Baldor, or they can repair if that's a better option. I have used them numerous times and I would again.

Try TGray Electric. They are a Baldor dealer. Make sure motor RPM's match along with frame size and HP rating.

I'll probably just be buying a replacement Baldor. But it would be nice if there was something cheaper. The baldor is about $600.

Have you looked into WEG? They are a good motor and should be cheaper.
