  • Alternative to Fel Pro 1262's

If you've run Felpro 1250's or 1262 intake gaskets for an extended period, you've possibly had them fail at the coolant passage. I've had a set on my Bronco for 6 years now. Motor got really hot the other day and I realize that I've been losing coolant from the intake/head on seal on multiple corners.

I have it torn down, ready to reassemble, wondering what else I should run. The intake isn't huge, just a performer. Heads are AFR 185's and 1250's only work if they line up exactly without shifting down when you torque things down.

Which intake gaskets should I go with?
Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."

Buy the 1250S (or 1262S), which has a steel core.

And you may already know this, but here it is anyway:
Get four bolts the same thread as the intake bolts, but 2 inches longer.
Cut the bolt head off, chamfer the end.
Put what is now four guide studs in the heads.
Once the gaskets are in place, the intake drops straight down.
    No gasket drama.

Is the 1250s3 the same as the 1250. The s3 is a steel core gasket.

I bought 3" studs for my intake originally (from the bolt house), the whole intake is in place with studs and not bolts. Same for valve covers.

        Thanks!
