Also, started comparing engines again. Wanted to see what I6 could beat the Jeep 4.0L. Not really many around, so I think the best contender would be the Atlas one from GM. The vortec 4200 DOHC that came in the Trailblazers and such.
The GM 4.2L Vortec I6 had: 2006-2009- 291 hp at 6000 rpm and 277 lb·ft at 4800 rpm.
The 4.0L had: 2001-2006- 190 hp at 4600 rpm and 235 lb·ft at 3200 rpm.
I think the 4.0L still wins. For numerous reasons. Looking at the torque curves on the charts, it looks like the 4.0L achieves good torque at a lower RPM than the Vortec 4200. Along with having more aftermarket parts support, more internet forum support, and being a bit smaller and easier to fit in there. Also its cheaper.WH
