It's at the warehouse store in Coppell. Opens at 8:00 am, and people start lining up at 6:00 am to get the best stuff.

Also, started comparing engines again. Wanted to see what I6 could beat the Jeep 4.0L. Not really many around, so I think the best contender would be the Atlas one from GM. The vortec 4200 DOHC that came in the Trailblazers and such.

              The GM 4.2L Vortec I6 had: 2006-2009- 291 hp at 6000 rpm and 277 lb·ft at 4800 rpm.

              The 4.0L had: 2001-2006- 190 hp at 4600 rpm and 235 lb·ft at 3200 rpm.

I think the 4.0L still wins. For numerous reasons. Looking at the torque curves on the charts, it looks like the 4.0L achieves good torque at a lower RPM than the Vortec 4200. Along with having more aftermarket parts support, more internet forum support, and being a bit smaller and easier to fit in there. Also its cheaper.

My YJ had a 4.2 shortblock with a 4.0 head and injection on it. At higher RPM's it just made noise, but it would light up the 33's in first and second.

So I've pretty much settled on the 4.0

Anybody ever done any performance mods to one? Any low hanging fruit for upgrades for the 4.0L?

The "best" Jeep we sold new in early 70's was the straight 6
with a "granny gear" low! The V8 would hit the oil filter on the
diff and let all the life blood out of the engine.

                          Does anybody run an automatic?

Screw standards! To much work in a Jeep. There is a warmed over 4.6 on Lonestar right now if you want a stroker.

My new project. I am also considering building another M715 on rocks, just don't know if I like working on something that the wheels and tires weigh 450 lbs!

That is the color I was thinking of going with. Already have a green truck though, so maybe too much green.

Got some doors, and a hard top for it today. All 3 are heavier than I'd like them to be. Be cool if the doors were aluminum.

Yeah I really like soft doors until winter hits. The hard doors are a pain in the but but I don't think I will be ditching them this time.
