A local shop to me does driveshaft shortenings, then they offer an extra cost to balance the driveshaft. My question is why would I NOT have it balanced?

I had my driveshaft shortened after I put a 5 speed in the bronco (68) and to the question of balancing, the shop said some need it and some don't (after changing length). Going down the highway at 70 & normal rpms is nice, and I don't have any vibration.
Granted, 70 in a lifted early Bronco is as fast as I will ever go, but if you're building something fast, I'd think the balancing is a no brainer.
$30 to balance?? I'm getting hosed. I swear the shop I used quoted over $100.Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."
Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."
