  • ARP stud insert

Is anyone using these? Are they necessary? I was doing a little shopping on Summit's site earlier today and I came across these. As you all know, the bolt/stud holes in Edelbrock heads are 1/2" and the studs I'm using are 7/16" which came with standard ARP washers. Thoughts?

if your block is a 7/16ths block (302) and your heads have the 1/2 holes to accomodate the taller windsor blocks with 1/2 holes then you'll need those spacers to center the stud in the hole on the head. I put them on my TFS 170 heads for the same reason.

So do they serve the purpose of spacers AND washers? In other words, do I use these in lieu of the washers that came in my stud kit?

Be sure and put arp moly on the bottom of the nut and top of that washer/reducer so you get accurate torque on the fastener.

This.....and make sure you run a tap thru the threads on the block.

You don't need them as long as you are using the factory dowels that locate the head on the block. There are two dowels on each side that keep the head from moving and if you don't have them they are available from Rock Auto for minimal cost.

I used the teflon sealer on the threads that hit water and moly
on the block threads. I believe the torque spec I used were for "wet" settings.
