  • 99 5 speed in a 98???

We did the trans swap a long time ago. Runs and drives fine, but is it possible to get the speedo to work?

run the 98 ext hsg and make sure you install the drive gear on the tail shaft. its all a direct interchange,Josh

for a t45? ive done it man..the angle of the hole for the vss is different (straight vs angled) but they interchange. I put a 99 in a 96. you have to watch out though, the cobras are different i know (for the mount)...i agree the speedcal is easier

Its been a while since I have messed with a 99-up T45 but thought the area where the speedo gear rides is different as well.

shouldnt be...you can take the reluctor off and it should accept the drive gear (at least mine did) which was from a 99 cobra

The 96-98 model mainshaft was splined where the speedo gear slid on. The later models were a machined finish where the reluctor wheel rides on it.

                    Swap

I did it a while back, but the other way. 96 into a 99 is the way we went... I think I have the parts you may need.

I just did this swap for a guy on here. Just swapped the reluctor for the '98 drive gear and used his '98 tail housing.
