You have bigger problems. Internal fuel leak perhaps and the only way it will run is when you crack the throttle blades a ton to introduce a lot of air to lean it out to where it will run. Leaking powervalve most likely. Ever get a carb backfire?

If the carb was built after 1994(?- some yr between 90-94) it will have powervalve backfire prevention built in.

well finally got it running. I had to turn the screws out a lot and then it started running on its own power. Then I noticed a little gas leaking and the adapter that is on the carb was cross threaded and leaking. I guess I win for worst luck in the world.
