  • Header/Exhaust Ceramic Coating

    What does everyone use?

Is there a local place that has a good coating?

I have a set of headers that I'm modifying that will need a new coating after I'm done hacking them up and I rather not pay to ship them half way across the country for a decent coating.

I used Ace Powder Coating in Garland. He did a great job for me.

So, do they offer special thermal coatings or just powder coatings?

I'm sure they do good work but I'm also concerned about the quality of the product they are applying to the headers. I need to keep under hood temps to a minimum with a 545ci 12:1 big block living in there.

Michael has been in business at the same location for almost 20 years.

Click on the powdercoating link, scroll down to the GT-40 intake.
                That is my intake.
I initially went to Longhorn Powdercoating in Haltom City. They would not promise it would not start peeling within just a couple of years.

                I took it to Michael.
                He said no problem.
That was several years and probably 100K miles ago.

I also had him coat a pair of valve covers with the same silver thermal coating he uses on the exterior of headers.
It has held up just as well (disregarding where my dumbass has scratched them).

I was using hik.as far back as 2000.

He has coated a lot of stuff for mepersonally and customers of mine back in those days. Never had an issue.

Parts he last did for me a few years ago. DJ and Paul have most of this stuff now.

All the stuff done in my pics were done using his thermal barrier ceramic coating.
