I'd look for a clean, straight 4-banger and transfer everything to it.

Man, to be honest, that is going to be expensive to fix. The car isn't worth it I bet. Probably need to let it go, or do a transplant like someone suggested.

What is the rubber strap on there for?

To hold the battery, box is broke.

The car is worth more to me then you, so understand that.

You probably aren't going to listen but I'm going to say this anyways because I crashed a couple Mustangs when I was your age getting sideways everywhere.
One thing you will need to learn if you are going to drive Mustangs is that the stock 4-link rear suspension design is pure shit. Using angled upper rear control arms with rubber bushings causes a lot of bind in the suspension and is a poor way to control lateral location of the axle. This makes the handling very unpredictable and causes crazy snap oversteer that can be unrecoverable.
Just imagine if you actually had a car with some horsepower. If you do fix this one or get another one, take care of the suspension first and learn some discretion in your driving.
