  • Floor jacks

I've had 2 4 ton sears floor jacks in the past 3 yrs I'm tired of the junk. Who makes a good reliable 3 1/2-4 ton floor jack these days?

Ironically my $200 alum craftsman jack lasted about 1/2 as long as my shitty harbor freight $60 one, at this point, my HF one is still going strong after lots of abuse.

Now that I think about it, my HF 3ton is still going strong after roughtly 4 years. It's the big steel heavy one, not the aluminum tyle.

I've gotten a couple off of the tool truck... kinda pricey, but they actually hold up, and they'll actually lift a diesel truck.

Honestly, my favorite jack back in the day as a low profile aluminum job that I got at HF

But for the past while, it's been the big steel jobs off of the truck

I had a Craftsman 3-ton given to me when I graduated high school. Twenty years later it still works perfectly, except that the little handle retaining bolt is broken. Sears can't repair it since their new jacks are all Chinese and those threads are different. I don't want to replace it with one of those junkers. The jack itself still works fine but you can't pull it around the shop anymore.

Since everything I own is lowered, I bought a low-profile steel jack from HF a couple of years ago when they were on sale. I can't talk shit about it because it's been perfect and it was only about 60 dollars.

The 3 1/2 ton craftsman jack that the 4 ton replaced was 12 yrs old that why I went back sears. Looks like I may be taking a trip to hf this weekend

If I remember, the Sears jacks were made by Walker. I bet the Walker parts would work. I was a Sears Service Manager for 25 years and also ran the parts department. I have a "Walker pattern" floor jack from Sam's that is about 20 years old and it works fine. I also have a HF aluminum low profile jack that is over 10 years old and is fine. See if a good auto supply store has a parts look up on Walker. Don't go to Auto Zone, they will not know what you are talking about.

From what I've read on the world wide Web the new ones are made by Torin they they supply no information to anyone on the crap they build. Found a couple threads where people have disassembled them measured seal sizes and rebuilt them.

No problem with my Torin. I've had it for several years.

I'm glad my 25 year old Crafstman 3 tons are still working because every new one I've bought was bullshit. I have a low-pro HF from when they were on sale but I try not to use that hunk of shit. Haven't found a decent one made currently so I'm curious.

HF jacks for the win. Just don't get junk ass aluminum jacks unless you plan on carrying it a lot.

I have 2 I bought from carquest. A low pro aluminum one I use on bikes and a big steel one that will jack up diesel trucks. Both have worked great for several years. I also have a new craftsman the ole lady bought me that won't hold up a beer can without bleeding down. I only hang onto it so she doesn't bitch
