  • 1993 Lightning

I'm looking at one with an ecm issue. The previous owner says he sent it in to be repaired, but it was returned as non-repairable.
    I see they've become a rare commodity.

What are the other options, aside from trying my luck with ebay and megasquirt?
I will eventually go to megasquirt, but I'm looking for a quicker/cheaper alternative to throw in before I pull the trigger.

The issue it's having feels like it's cutting fuel, but his mechanic says it's pulling timing. Those are his words. I have not checked it out yet.

You can find what you need on NLOC. I also believe that a TwEECer will over ride the stock tune and everyone runs the TwEECer's on these trucks.

THAT'S what the damn site is!!
I couldn't remember to save my life and it didn't pop up with simple Google search.
Lightningrodders kept popping up and tried to give my phone viruses when I opened it.

From what I can gather off the seller, it's a burned segment or chip that can't be repaired, which seems odd. I've done may repairs to old circuit boards that burned up.

I've never heard of that, but my Lightning was an GEN 2. Though my son had a 95 'L' and we didn't have that issue or even read about it, but hey anything is possible.

Might look at a Pimp Ecm, plug and play but a little pricey.

NLOC is kinda a dead site. LightningRodder, SVTPerformance will have much better results probably. I own a 04 L.

I wonder if any other ECM will interchange and work with an sct chip? Like on foxbodies, maybe you can use any 93 v8 truck unit. I can't imagine how they could be much different.

Is the truck still SD or been converted to mass air?

Maybe for G2 but still the definitive source for G1's

^Yeah, NLOC is still active for the G1.

Have you thought about any of the Holley options?

                      A9P should work

Then so would an a9l, just wouldn't have the extra 10* from idle - 1800. So it would be a little more sluggish coming up on the converter. Untuned.

I feel like this has been made way more complicated then it should.

                        ECM with tune.

The first gen lightnings are still Speed Density. When using a mustang computer you need a swap harness.

So it's not as easy just plugging in an A9L or A9P
