I've rebuilt quite a few transmissions at this point and the part that takes 80% of the time is cleaning shit. I clean each needle bearing by hand, scrape all gasket surfaces, clean each tooth of each gear, etc., shit is a beatdown. I think I need to get a parts washer from Harbor Freight, get the big gunk off, next putting it in a sonic cleaner for a while, I found some big ones on ebay for $300.
How do the pros do this stuff, I would imagine they spend 10% of the time on cleaning vs most of it like I do.
