Going to replace fuel pump on my stang tommorrow morning. Any tips to make it easier on me? steps on wich way to remove tank? thanks

Lift and a transmission jack. -
I hope that you drove it dry first or have a good pump to drain the tank with.
1. Drain tank.
2. Loosen filler neck.
3. Place floor jack under tank with a board across it to support the tank.
4. Take straps loose and lower the tank. Carefully work out the filler neck.
5. Take the rings off the service hole in the tank.
6. Replace the old pump with the new one. Make sure the connections are tight.
7. Reinstall in the tank with a new seal around the service entry. Lubricate the seal.
8. Replace the filler neck gasket with a new one. Lubricate the gasket.
9. Carefully raise the tank while slowly working the filler neck back into position.
10. Tighten everything up.
A friend to lend another set of hands will be a big help with the tank....especially if there is any gas in it. Keep a fire extinguisher handly for just in case. Take you 1-2 hours working slowly. Be careful.Comment
