  • Absolute best driveshaft balancer around?

I need someone who will put the extra effort and really balance the shit out of a shaft even beyond recommended parameters. I'm not looking for cheap here just the best.

Funny story about that guy/place. I used him years ago like 10 years ago and when I went into his office to pay there were tons of Polaroids of him with various porn stars on the wall.

Well, Driveshaft king came through. They found that the brand new shafts I just paid $750 for are basically near garbage. I'm beyond pissed as the guy who made them has been around forever and has a decent rep. After a bunch of internet searching though his quality has really started to dip here lately. In addition to using some really crap parts, the welds were not worth a shit, the tubes were not on center of the yokes to the point of having to cut and re-weld them on, the tubing that connects the yokes was WARPED, the balance job was shit and not properly done, and on and on and on. He straightened it all out and nailed the balance. I still may have to being it back for component replacement if they still don't act right but at least I feel like I am getting some good honest info now.

My long shiny alum shaft rubbed the body a little, any idea on what they would charge to balance the shaft?

Sounds like that place is good, but just to throw out another option (for others interested).. I used Inland Truck Parts in Irving to do my Bronco driveshaft a few years ago and was blown away at how good of a job they did, for very reasonable price. It came back looking brand new.

With an extensive inventory of quality truck parts, industry-leading remanufacturing and expert truck repair services available on-site, our Irving location has everything you need for quality control and quick turnaround in the Dallas area. From PTO parts and components to automatic transmission repair to driveshaft rebalancing and repair, count on Inland to get it right the first time.

I had a custom made driveshaft in one of my old Chevelles, the car had a T56 and 4:10's, and I often cruised it 75-80mph down the hwy, so naturally it saw some pretty extreme driveline speeds with that setup. It had a significant driveshaft vibration that a couple shops couldn't seem to fix (second shop in Fort Worth actually made it worse). I finally took it over to Driveshaft King...dropped it off, went and had some BBQ, and came back about an hour later. I think it was $30 or $35 back then, and the thing was perfect from that point on....could run it on up well over 100mph in 6th gear, and never any more vibrations.

I've never used them myself, but have heard the same from a couple folks who have. They do a lot of big truck stuff, don't they?

Yeah, primarily, they are part of a Kenworth dealership group. But they are happy to work on light duty stuff too. Their shop there is huge and nice, with a lot of specialized workers. The guy that did my driveshaft was older, and from the sound of it, had been doing that stuff for a long time. He brought me back into the shop, we discussed what all I needed, and he had it all ready a day or two later. They are also employee owned, which I have found to be a positive attribute with businesses in the past.

David @ drive shaft king is a great guy, and does all my drive axels and shafts. Hooked me up on some rebuild kits that I needed for some Ferrari half shafts, and then took the time out of his day, to show me how to do it.
