  • Anyone looking for a new flywheel?

I was in search of one so I was browsing around for the best parts and stumbled across mustangsunlimited.com and they have a 28oz and 50oz Procomp billet steel flywheels for $115 and I just picked up the 50oz for $98!! Wow! Go check it out if your looking for it because I almost spent $250 plus on one...- James

I'm not sure I want a $100 Chinese machined flywheel between me and a wheelchair.

Can't be any worse than the Chinese junk that autozone/OReilly/Pepboys sells....and I've never seen one of those come apart and I've put together many cars. Honestly I'd be more worried about it slinging off a weight if it has removable ones, if so pull them off and check the hardware and loctite back together.

What ever makes you feel better, right? I know knowing there is nothing with the name of Procomp on my ride makes me feel better and I would expect nobody else to give a shit, however I feel better and thats all that matters at the end of the day.

Everyone on here is a genius and knows everything...lol I love it. I've been seeing the same trolls for 10+ years. The Procomp and Ford Racing flywheels are most likely the exact same thing with different names one it. The point of the post was to inform people of the product...if they choose to buy it cool, if they don't I don't give a shit either way. I'm buying one because I'm saving $150 and using that money for other stuff since I'm current throwing tons of money into my car at once. Like I said, I'll put it one there in place of my super worn out stock cast unit and I'll let you know how it works.

I'm not saying they are shit, but I do know that clutch explosions are no laughing matter. Do the Procomp parts have a history of being crap? I know the heads are cheap but a lot of people love them after putting good hardware in them.

In regards to a flywheel, I would err on the side of safety. Don Garlits is missing all of his toes and half a foot from a clutch explosion. That's what caused him to go to rear engine fuel cars and everyone else followed.

Much safer when all of that is happening behind you.

Yeah, that .028" would surely be enough.

In all seriousness, post up your first impressions.

Two years ago I was in the same boat, being budget minded I bought one of those. Looked great but the bolt holes to the crank were so oversized you could bolt it on in any configuration.

When I called to return it, the "Technical" guy told me that was ok and I could bolt it on anyway it would go.

Yeah, ok, I'll return it anyway.
