  • Clutch Cable Tight/Loose

I have an issue with my clutch. It's really tight, but sometimes it loosens up. I can start out in 1st gear and it's fine, shift to 2nd and no problem, I engage the clutch to shift to 3rd, and it tightens up. This happens in between shifts an any gear. Is it a clutch cable problem?

Sounds like it, most all of the cables are junk, I'd buy the maximum motorsports cable if you can.

Sounds like the cable is binding, it's probably fraying internally somewhere.

Factory or billet quadrant? I've seen the factory plastic quadrant slip and cause a similar issue.

I've had one of the adjustable cables bind on me, just threw an auto parts store one in.

Experience duh My old hatch would walk trans and starter bolts out every now and then. Solid mounts and syphericals everywhere with a poly trans mount. Was afraid to use a form of locktight back then.

Just became a regular thing to check them.

I have a MM quadrant, firewall adjuster and 1996' adjustable cable for sale. May have 2,500 miles on it.
