    92 mustang gt manual.
I need your guys help on this cause i can't figure it out. I had 351w head on my 302 and the valve seats started going bad. I upgraded the heads to the dart pro 1 heads and put a msd pro dizzy on the car..... only things I did to it. At first (after installing those things) the car would start up after a few turns of the key, don't know why, but it did start and ran good. After starting it 3 or 4 times, it just gave up and it wouldnt crank over. I replace the starter with a mini torque starter (for some reason my car had an older starter in it), it was acting like I had a dead battery and was cranking slowly.... not enough to start it. I take the spark plugs out and it cranks fine. Not sure what it could be. I have replaced the starter soleniod as well.

I wouldn't think the compression changed enough to have to get a high compression starter

Good advice. Hard to overestimate the value of solid grounding.

I don't see in your post where you checked your battery, but an old unit can give big headache's... Get it tested first.

sounds like the oil pump shaft could have fallen out when you pulled the old distributor, or you just have it timed wrong.

But it ran a few times after the new parts were put on. Plus wouldn't that prevent me from putting the new distributor in?

Can you try the old distributor? Starting a few times and then not starting at all is a pretty strong indicator of an ignition part taking a dump. MSD distributors are notorious for being pieces of shit right out of the box for the past few years and I have read multiple stories of people on the corral with this exact same problem with MSD distributors. That is, they work fine a few times and then take a dump.

                  I can try that.

Bad ground/electrical would be my first guess as well - personal experience on that one. Bad starter would be my second. Bad distributor would be my third. I believe you said msd and there's tons of bad out of the box complaints on them online.

Not necessarily, I did something very similar on a 390 once. The shaft didn't fall all the way out, and didn't engage the bottom of the distributor either. it's been several years since this happened so details are a little fuzzy.

It's worth looking into before you start throwing money around on parts you don't need to replace.

I bought an MSD coil for my Bronco a few years ago and it shit the bed after only a couple of months. I had replaced it along with the wires and plugs, but fortunately kept the old coil. After troubleshooting for 2 days I finally swapped the old one back on and it fired right up.

Were the plugs wet with water when you pulled them out?
If you have a port mismatch, it will allow water to seep in.

                          Look here and GL..

Ok so here is an update... after getting a new starter and following some bad wires and replacing them, the car cranks, but now no spark.... sort of.... the starter makes a clicking noise while trying to crank and when it does it gets spark, but this is on and off clicking. I have checked the tfi harness and it's getting power, I checked the coil and it's getting power, checked my ignition box and it's getting power. There is a spark but not when it's cranking. I don't know what else to look at....
